The Tinian Department of Public Safety received on March 10, 2017, new equipment for the department’s day-to-day operations.
The new equipment includes rechargeable patrol car spotlights, uniforms, and other essential duty belt implements for each of the department’s 13 officers.
The purchase of these equipment was made possible by the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation, in collaboration with the Tinian Mayor’s Office. The delegation passed Tinian Local Law 19-15, signed into law by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres in November 2016, appropriating $5,000 to the operations of DPS-Tinian.
For DPS resident director Juan Santos, the additional funding is a tremendous help to his department.
“With the funding assistance of $5,000…DPS-Tinian was able to procure police gear for [its] personnel. The newly purchased gear will play a big role in their professional appearance, ensure that all police officers are equipped when responding to any emergency call, and ensures their safety and those around them and the Tinian community who seeks our services as well.
“On behalf of Department of Public Safety Commissioner Robert Guerrero and the DPS-Tinian, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to…Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas and the Tinian delegation for their continued support and full commitment to ensure the safety of those that put their lives on the line,” Santos added.
Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas, who was present to receive the equipment with DPS, expressed his gratitude for the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation. “I want to thank the Tinian Legislative Delegation for their continued support of our law enforcement agencies.”
