Defendant in domestic violence ordered to answer charges

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman yesterday ordered a man to answer the charges that he beat up his girlfriend, threatened to kill her, and pointed a machete at her.

At a preliminary hearing, Wiseman found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against 37-year-old Ramon R. Agulto.

Wiseman found probable cause to believe that the crimes of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace were committed and that the person who may have committed the offenses is Agulto.

Arraignment will be on Aug. 13 at 9am.

Police said that last July 27 at 3am, Agulto had insisted on leaving the house but the victim tried to stop him.

Agulto then allegedly grabbed the victim's hair, dragged her inside the house and was yelling at her. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck, forced her to the ground and began punching her.

The victim told police that she begged Agulto to stop the beating, but instead he began kicking her in the body.

Later that day, Agulto allegedly threatened to kill the victim and pointed a machete at her.

Police said the victim sustained scratches and bruises on the right arm and chest. She also complained of pain in the back of her head.
