Muna-Barnes presses for full implementation of Guam's bottle bill

HAGNTNA-Legislative Secretary Sen. Tina Rose Muna-Barnes sent a letter to Guam Environmental Protection Agency administrator Eric Palacios yesterday requesting the implementation status of the Guam Beverage Container Recycling Act of 2010.

Muna-Barnes wrote to Palacios at the request of several families and community groups who have contacted her office and are eager to see the law fully implemented.

The Guam Beverage Container Recycling Act of 2010, commonly known as the Guam Bottle Bill, was introduced by Senator Barnes in the 30th Guam Legislature. The bill was passed, signed into law on December 30, 2010 and is now Public Law 30-221.

“As Guamanians we share a unique connection to our land. We truly believe that our island environment is irreplaceable and deserving of our protection. I will continue to work closely with GEPA and our stakeholders to see the full implementation of this valuable piece of legislation,” said Muna-Barnes.
