TO PROMOTE PEACE IN SCARBOROUGH SHOAL
CNMI and Guam to take part in Global Day of Prayer

The US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG), led by its national chair Loida Nicolas Lewis, national president Rodel Rodis, and spokesperson and legal counsel Ted Laguatan, has organized the Global Day of Prayer for Peace in the Scarborough Shoal on Aug. 21, 2012.

USP4GG said the Global Day of Prayer will be observed all over the United States, Canada, the CNMI, Guam, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Philippines, and other countries to ask "divine assistance in the peaceful and just resolution of the dispute over Scarborough Shoal between China and the Philippines."

On this day, the group will also be commemorating the 29th death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino.

Dr. Celia B. Lamkin, USP4GG Marianas Chapter chair and USP4GG Region IX Coordinator for the CNMI, Guam, and Hawaii, has coordinated and offered Holy Masses at numerous Catholic churches in the CNMI, Guam, and Hawaii and prayer meetings at the Christian churches in the CNMI with the following intention—Global Day of Prayer for Peace in the Scarborough Shoal; commemoration of the 29th death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino; and prayers for the people of the Philippines who have experienced and are still experiencing terrible flooding and that the government as well as aid organizations may quickly come to ease their suffering.

In the CNMI, the schedule of Holy Mass and Prayer Meetings on Aug. 21 are as follows:

- Holy Mass at Mt. Carmel Cathedral, 6am

- Holy Mass at San Antonio Church, 6pm
San Antonio, Saipan
- Holy Mass at San Jose Church, 6am
San Jose, Saipan
- Holy Mass at San Vicente Church, 6pm
San Vicente, Saipan
- Holy Mass at San Roque Church, 6pm
San Roque, Saipan
- Holy Mass at Kristo Rai Church, 6am
Garapan, Saipan
- Holy Mass at Saint Jude Church, 6pm
Koblerville, Saipan
- Holy Mass at San Francisco de Borja, 6am
Songsong Village, Rota
- Holy Mass at San Jose Church, 6am
San Jose Village, Tinian
- Prayer meeting at Chinese Christian Church,
Gualo Rai, Saipan
- Prayer meeting at Blessed Temple Christian Fellowship
Chalan Kanoa, Saipan

In Guam, the USP4GG Marianas Chapter and Laguna Association of Guam, headed by president Nancy Baldoz, in collaboration with the Filipino Community of Guam, led by president Leah Beth Naholowaa, have organized a prayer forum in Aug. 21 that will be held at the Blue Magic Flowers Shop, Copy Express Bldg. (next to Tamuning Post Office) , Tamuning after the 7pm Holy Mass at Saint Anthony Church, Tamuning. Guest speakers have been invited and activities have been prepared for this event. Holy Masses will be offered, with the same intentions above, at St. Anthony Church,Tamuning (5:30am, 7:20am, and 7pm) and at the Santa Barbara Church, Dededo (6am, 11:30am, and 7om).

On Hawaii, the schedule of Holy Masses is the following:

- Holy Mass at St. Augustine By-The-Sea Church, 5pm

- Holy Mass at the Cathedral of our Lady of Peace, 12pm

- Holy Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 7am and 12pm

- Holy Mass at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 7am

The CNMI, Guam and Australia would be the first to participate among the 300 churches, ministries, denominations, and organizations worldwide that have confirmed joining this Global Day of Prayer for Peace in the Scarborough Shoal.
