Dept of Veterans Affairs director to visit CNMI

The director of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System will be on island this week to host a veteran appreciation and outreach event.

Dr. James E. Hastings will welcome veterans, their families, and other community members during the event to be held on Aug. 23 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Saipan VA Outreach Clinic, MHII Bldg. at the Marina Heights Business Park.

Hastings last visited the island for the Saipan Veterans Town Hall Meet on Nov. 16, 2011. He was joined during his brief visit to Saipan by Andrew Dahlburg, Craig Oswald, and Michael C. Soucie, also of the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System.

Ruth Coleman of the Saipan VA Outreach Clinic said the event will feature acting governor Eloy S. Inos and Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan as guest speakers.

“We are inviting all our veterans, their families, and the community to attend the appreciation and outreach event because this will be an opportunity for them to ask their questions directly to the director,” Coleman told Saipan Tribune.

Refreshments will be served during the event. For more information, call 483-8910.
