On Monday, Sept. 17, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Saipan will welcome 17 new U.S. citizens during a special naturalization ceremony as part of USCIS' annual celebration of Constitution and Citizenship Days.
USCIS Immigration Services Officer Diane Zedde will present the candidates to the U.S. District Court for the NMI and Chief Judge Ramona Villagomez Manglona will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America's newest citizens at the U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. Manglona invited students from the Public School System to observe this special ceremony on Citizenship Day.
The 17 soon-to-be citizens range in age from 35 to 73 years old. They are originally from seven countries: People's Republic of China, India, Kenya, Japan, the Philippines, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Thailand, and include a husband and wife naturalizing together.
More than 32,000 candidates will become citizens at 158 ceremonies across the country from Sept. 14 to Sept. 22. (USCIS)
