Authorities arrested last week a 40-year-old man for threatening to cut the throat of his own mother.
The suspect's mother called police on Nov. 19 at about 2:15pm to report a disturbance at their home in Koblerville. The mother told investigators that she was threatened by her son, Marcelo Romolor, with a machete.
The mother narrated that her son got mad at her when she failed to give him cigarettes. He threatened her with the machete when he couldn't find their portable television. Her son allegedly raised the machete and pointed it at her, saying, “You better take out my TV or I will cut your neck with this!” The mother feared for her safety and immediately left the house and called police at the KB Laundry.
Police officer Jesus Cepeda was immediately dispatched to the area and arrested Romolor on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and disturbing the peace. The suspect was transported to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained. His bail was set at $5,750. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to represent Romolor.
Preliminary hearing is on Nov. 29 at 9am.
