To help preserve our precious natural resources, residents of Saipan are encouraged to eat out today, Nov. 30, 2012, at select restaurants that have agreed to donate a portion of their revenue from that day to the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance.
For this year’s event, participating restaurants include Isla Cafe (at the Kanoa Resort), Chambre Restaurant (at the Fiesta Resort), 360 Restaurant, Shenanigan’s, and Naked Fish.
“We are encouraging everyone who cares for the environment and who wants to contribute in some way to the preservation of our precious natural resources to eat at one or two of these restaurants for lunch and dinner,” said Sam Sablan, executive director for the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance.
The Mariana Islands Nature Alliance is a community - based, nonprofit organization that was formed by a group of people whose dedication and compassion for the environment felt the need to promote and advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural resources in the Commonwealth.
Some of the projects that MINA has been involved in include the Marine Debris Program, the Environmental Teach Camp, Obyan Revegetation Project, the Tasi Watch Program, and other projects.
MINA will use the proceeds from the Eating Out for the Environment event to support and sustain community projects.
To participate, residents are asked to bring their friends and family to eat out at any of the participating restaurants today, Nov. 30, 2012. (MINA)
