Barely a month after Tinian Marianas Lions Club was chartered at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, the group made its first community service activity with a $250 donation to the American Red Cross NMI chapter on Aug. 17, 2013.
The donation was held at JC Café and was received by Tinian representatives Jennifer San Nicolas and Vivian V. Hofschneider, who is also a charter member of the club.
The check turnover was led by TMLC Charter president Lizabeth Hofschneider and members Arley Long, Kedar Shrestha, Rod Cabarles, Edwin Hofschneider, and Lot Bunao. Paul Madriaga, their guiding Lion witnessed the event.
Liz Hofschneider said that this is just the first of their community projects for this Lion year. “We have lined up projects coming up for Tinian, especially for the schools and entire Tinian community,” she said.
San Nicolas expressed appreciation for the donation and happy that the Tinian Lions chose American Red Cross for their first community service. She said that Red Cross will always be ready whenever the Lions need some assistance to help the Tinian community.
Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world. Over 1.35 million members perform community service in 207 countries and geographic areas in many ways, but share a core belief: Community is what we make it.
