This is to inform the general public that the Bureau of Motor Vehicle is experiencing networking problems and other technical difficulties with its computer system to process new, renew, transfer of ownership, or duplicate of vehicle registrations. The network problem is due to pest-infested fiber optic cable conduit at the Department of Public Safety’s main building.
DPS is working with a contractor for a temporary solution to this problem. BMV’s system will be functional by Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.
BMV will be issuing a letter of compliance to customers for new, renewal, transfer of ownership, or duplicate of vehicle registrations who were affected by the system being out of service. The letter of compliance will be temporary until such time the system is back online. Customers issued with the letter of compliance will be advised when to return to BMV to get their official registration that they applied for.
