The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the first 2006 Marianas Roundtable - Focus on Energy on Aug. 31.
CNMI business and government leaders, as well as the public, will gather at the roundtable to hear regional experts speak in energy conservation and alternative energy.
Confirmed speakers include:
* David Schaller, Sustainable Development Coordinator for the U.S.; Environmental Protection Agency, Region 8;
* Lorilee Crisostimo, Guam Energy Office;
* Darren Kimura, President & CEO of Energy Industries of Honolulu;
* John Cruz, Guam Power Authority;
* Ven Mendabalmi, Esq., Capital D. Partners, LLC, New York City; and
* Thelma Inos, Saipan Energy Office
Attendees will learn the most recent advances in renewable energy, green building design, energy efficiency strategies, building local infrastructure, local energy projects, financing, and more.
A concurrent Energy Expo will showcase Guam and Saipan businesses specializing in energy conservation and alternative energy options. The Energy Expo will be open to the public, as well as to conference attendees. There is no charge to visit the Energy Expo.
Cost to attend the conference is $30 per person for Chamber members and $35 per person for non-Chamber members.
Cost to exhibit in the Energy Expo is $150 for Chamber members; $200 for non-Chamber members. Space in the Expo is limited; businesses are urged to sign up soon with the Saipan Chamber of Commerce by calling 233-7150.

This event is being planned by the Economic Development Committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, the largest private business organization in the CNMI. With over 140 business members, the Chamber is an association aligned to make a difference in the Commonwealth community. (PR)
