All is set for Sunday's concert event of the year, when OPM legends Danny Javier, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garrovillo of the Apo Hiking Society serenade Saipan in the "Kumustahan Asian Pacific 2006 Concert."
Songstress Rachel Alejandro, daughter of '70s “Kilabot Ng Mga Kolehiyala” Hadji Alejandro, will be joining APO in the Saipan concert instead of Geneva Cruz.
Bluebay Productions said that Cruz couldn't make the new schedule due to a previous engagement.
Kumustahan was originally set for Aug. 27 but was moved to Sept. 23 following a delay caused by a backlog in the processing of visas and stricter Homeland Security standards.
Concert organizers, however, said that Alejandro was actually the first choice for the concert-both for Guam and Saipan-but the August schedule hindered her from joining the concert.
Tickets are still being sold at $10 per person.
The "Kumustahan sa Asia Pacific 2006" will bring the Pinoy artists to the University of Guam Field house tomorrow and Hopwood Junior High School on Saipan the next day. Adding to the act is the irreverent comical antics of Nanette Inventor, also known as Dona Buding.
Prior to the Guam and Saipan stops, Western Union held the show in Australia and New Zealand in June and July.
The Apo Hiking Society, which continues to weave music 33 years after they graduated from a top university in the Philippines, is a pillar of the Philippine music industry.
Composed of the triumvirate of Javier, Garrovillo, Jim Paredes, the Apo Hiking Society has recorded 22 albums; hosted several television shows including their own noontime Sunday show "Sa Linggo nAPO Sila"; and launched hugely successful major solo concerts.
The group has performed in over 50 cities in the United States, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Japan to bring Original Filipino Music to Pinoys around the world.
