Police arrested Tuesday last week a 29-year-old man who allegedly embezzled his employer’s money that came from apartment rental payments.
Jeffrey Bonsol Manalo was taken to the Superior Court on Thursday for theft/embezzlement, and theft by deception.
A $5,000 cash bail was imposed for Manalo’s temporary liberty.
Detective Regino Celis Jr. stated in his report that Dr. Gene S. Eagle-Oden filed a complaint before the Department of Public Safety on March 16, 2009 against his employee, Manalo, for allegedly collecting rental payments but not turning over the money.
Celis said the embezzlement was discovered by Eagle-Oden’s accountant when some of their tenants who were given notice to vacate for non-payment of rents complained that they have already given their payments to Manalo.
The accountant’s audit showed the total rental payments received but not remitted to their office amounted to $7,100.
In other court news, police early last week arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly beating up his 59-year-old girlfriend in fit of jealousy on Tinian.
Kabirol Islam Molla was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Molla allegedly slapped, punched and pushed the girlfriend last Thursday.
