The Shottas and Rollers tabbed victories over separate foes in Friday's Docomo Pacific Youth Summer Basketball League U25 pairings held at the Garapan Basketball Court.
The Shottas bested Safety 1st, 31-26, in the first matchup, after which the Rollers overcame the Peace Makers, 33-24, in the second feature.
Safety 1st's John Darag lit up the scoreboard with 17 points in the opening tiff, but it was not enough to hold off the collective effort put in by the Shottas through regulation.
Shottas' Eugene Manglona and Roy Babauta teamed up for 15 points in the game and received a lot more support from their teammates; the halftime score was not provided.
The Peace Makers managed a slim, 11-10, lead at the half in the second match thanks to a couple of baskets apiece by Luis and Lambert Reyes, but the Rollers regrouped after the break and finished the game strong in the payoff period.
Rollers' J.P. Iglesias buried a couple of 3-pointers to help gain control, while teammate Prince Factor tallied 10 markers to help secure the win.
Factor finished with 16 points to lead all scorers. Peace Makers' Reyes led his squad with 10.
Docomo's U17 matches took place last night; details will be released later this week.
From there the season continues at 5:30pm on Friday with U25's GVH against the R-Rebels followed by the Saints clashing with Safety 1st at 6:30pm.
