Heavy rains have slowed down the 2012 Docomo Pacific Summer Youth Basketball League's game schedule, as only one match finished last week.
Shottas won the lone game completed at the Garapan Basketball Court, prevailing over the R-Rebels, 41-30, in last Friday's U25 division match.
Shottas took a slim 13-12 edge at halftime, thanks to a trio of three-pointers and pair of free throws from Eugene Manglona. Two of the Shottas treys came from Raymond Babauta.
R-Rebels remained in contention after the first half, as Trevor Ogumoro also drained a pair of treys to lead all scorers at midpoint with his 8 markers. He added 8 more, but lacked support from his teammates in the second half, while Shottas bench came out strong down the homestretch.
Seven big points by Sahj Hossain headed a handful of other contributors, and their rivals were unable to hit from long range for a possible comeback.
Hossain finished with a team-high 10 points, Ogumoro topped the chart with 16. Five R-Rebels players were held to just two points or less in the game.
Meanwhile, the opening U25 pairing last Friday has been rescheduled for 5:30pm tonight, and from there, the season continues tomorrow with the Rollers taking on Safety 1st at 5:30pm and Shottas colliding with GVH at 6:30pm.
In the U17 division, Monday's matches were washed out and were reportedly rescheduled for last night. IT&E's Rollers B were set to challenge Rollers 16B in the first game, while the Cougars were to square off with Docomo Red.
Action in the U17 will continue on Aug. 6 with the Cougars running into Loving Hands at 5:30pm and the Rollers Basketball Cub's Agape clashing with Docomo Red at 6:30pm.
