The Water Front's Eight It! and SOS Bar & Grill's IT&E Voyagers took the lead in the Thursday and Tuesday divisions after last week's matches in the Saipan Billiards Association 2012 Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
In SBA's Thursday division match last August 2, Waterfront Front's Eight It! went into Bammy's Restaurant & Bar and neutralized the Equalizers (14-16), 10-5, to gain first place with its 21-9 record.
In other results, 19th Hole Bar's Titans II (19-11) soared past sister team Eagles (9-21), 10-5, in a home draw to secure the second position, while Wild Bill's Bar & Grill's Shark Attack (14-16) defeated Team SCS (13-17), 8-7, in a road match held at Jonny's Bar & Grill.
In the Tuesday division, the two-time defending champion IT&E Voyagers squished Yuichiros Printing (17-21), 10-5, at home to improve their card to 29-16 and move all alone into first place.
Some close games resulted in four teams getting a share of second place. Utopia Sports Bar's Blue Ice Hustlers, Oceanside Bar & Grill's IT&E Incredibles, Joe's Steakhouse's Docomo Pacific Home Boyz and Bammy's Triggers hold identical 26-19 slates.
The Blue Ice Hustlers bested the IT&E Incredibles, 8-7, at home; the Docomo Home Boyz lit up 19th Hole's Titans I (9-36), 13-2, at home; and Poseidon Bar & Grill's Crazy 8 (21-24) upset the Triggers, 8-7, also in a home match.
Next Tuesday's match will have Crazy 8 hosting the Docomo Home Boyz; the IT&E Incredibles waving in the IT&E Voyagers; the Titans I welcoming the Blue Ice Hustlers; and the Triggers calling over Yuichiros Printing.
The upcoming Thursday league pairings will have the Titans II hailing the Equalizers; Shark Attack setting the table for Eight It!; and Team SCS hosting the Eagles.
