Shottas is still undefeated in the U25 division of the 3rd Docomo Pacific Summer Basketball League after trotting past GVH, 49-39, last Thursday at the Garapan Basketball Court.
The league-leading Shottas played better in the second half en route to the 10-point victory, its first in as many games. Shottas is ahead by one win against the R-Rebels (4-1), who clipped the Rollers, 61-54, in the second match of the night.
The Saints (3-1), Rollers (2-3), Peacemakers (1-3), GVH (1-4), Safety 1st (0-3), and Hi-5 (0-3) complete the U25 field.
Shottas was playing the Saints last night in the first game, while GVH was taking on the Peacemakers in the second tiff and results of these matches were unavailable at press time.
Eugene Manglona, Frank Mettao, and Olomai delivered 8 points each in the opening frame as Shottas built a 27-23 halftime lead. Manglona and Mettao carried the torch in the second half again, as they combined for 16 more points to retain Shottas' perfect record.
Dominic Reyes managed 16 on the short end for GVH, while Zack Babauta and Olomai teamed up for five treys for Shottas.
In the second game, Freddie Litulumar and Ben Lisua drillled three-pointers in the first half to lift the R-Rebels to a 31-26 lead at midpoint.
The Rollers did not go away quietly and used the depth of its bench to stay within two possessions heading into the final minutes. However, the R-Rebels forced a couple of big turnovers late in the game to foil the Rollers' comeback bids.
Trevor Ogumoro stepped up with 8 points in the clutch to seal the win for the R-Rebels. Litulumar top-scored for the R-Rebels with his 10 points, while the Rollers' Jon Laniyo turned in a game-high 15 in the defeat.
