Tan Holdings hosts sports festival

Tan Holdings will be holding the 40th Anniversary Sports Festival that will commence this month and continue until the end of November. The games will be held in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the company doing business in the region.

The festival will feature six sports: bike race, baseball, soccer, bowling, badminton, and basketball.

Festival tournaments for these six sports will be held at different dates throughout the next few months with the bike race kicking off the competitions first on Aug. 26. Tan Holdings will give $500 cash and $500 worth of sports equipment to each of the six sports organizations, while winners in the various tournaments will receive gift certificates for sports equipment ranging from $200 to $500.

Tony Rogolifoi and Rose Igitol will be in charge for the baseball tournament, while Ross Zapanta will take care of the bowling event set for Oct. 6 and 7. Basketball is also set for October with James Lee as the contact person, while badminton's Merlie Tolentino will announce the exact date of their November competition. Ed Salas and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association is also eyeing November as the start of their tournament. Vince Seman is in charge of holding the bike race later this month, while Tan Siu Lin Foundation manager Ed Arriola will be the overall tournament coordinator.

Interested participants are encouraged to contact the aforementioned individuals to see how they can participate in these exciting games

“I've always seen sports as an essential part of a community. Our islands have so many talented athletes and this sports festival will be sure to please players and fans. The participating organizations are well managed with dedicated people who will ensure successful tournaments. Best of luck to all the participants,” Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan said.
