Organizers of the 2012 Saipan Soccer School Summer Futsal League are handing out Golden Boot awards to four players in a brief ceremony tonight at 7:30pm at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.
Topping the list of Golden Boot awardees is Wild Bill's striker Jack Thoensaket, who scored the most goals in the entire league, earning 38. The Wild Bill's forward led his team to a perfect 8-0-0 win-draw-loss record in the double-round robin men's league and averaged about five goals per game.
Other Golden Boot winners are women's league's Irish Pagarao of Shirley's Coffee Shop, boys U18's Tanapon Unsa of Astig Futsal and boys U14's John Taisacan of IT&E. Pagarao collected 20 goals in eight games with Shirley's, averaging two goals in every match, while Unsa had the second most goals in the league with his 37. Taisacan still led the boys U14 division with his 19 goals despite missing a couple of games in the first half of the league.
Meanwhile, league organizers will also present trophies to the division champions and Fair Play awardees.
The Greg Borja-captained Wild Bill's will get tonight's men's championship trophy, while Shirley's will have the women's award. Astig Futsal and IT&E will take the boys U18 and U14 first place trophies, respectively.
Wild Bill's won the men's championship against Godfather's, IT&E, Shirley's, and Go Green Team, while Shirley's prevailed in the women's division versus IT&E Awesome, Mellow Yellow, Wild Bill's Xerox, and Baked Girls.
Astig Futsal bested Mean Machine, IT&E, and the Thundercats in the boys U18, while IT&E ruled the two-way battle for the boys U14 crown against the IP&E-sponsored Astig Futsal.
Despite losing to IT&E in the boys U14, Astig Futsal will not go home empty-handed tonight, as the latter will get the Fair Play plum. Mellow Yellow, Go Green Team, and Astig Futsal will take the same award in the women's, men's, and U18 divisions.
