The Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association's bi-weekly practice sessions for the fall season resumed last Saturday and will run through Nov. 28 at beachside of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.
The sessions will be held Saturday mornings from 8am to 10am and on Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm at Fiesta.
During the sessions, CNMI national beach volleyball members will also be holding free clinics for players ages eight and up who want to learn the fundamentals of the game.
While the emphasis is mainly focused on beach volleyball, the skills taught provide a solid foundation that transfers to indoor or hard court formats of the sport as well.
Other benefits include learning proper warm-up techniques, practice drills, and strength building, and improving overall fitness.
Games will be also take place during the clinics and organizers are planning to hold tournaments on the last Saturday of each month throughout the fall season or on Sept. 29, Oct, 27, and Nov. 24.
Coaching and necessary equipment to run the clinics will be provided. Players are expected to be on time with their own water or sportsdrink. Sunscreen and a hat are also highly recommended.
Meanwhile, NMIVA is looking for more coaches to help conduct practices and work with the different age groups. For more information, email CNMI coach Russ Quinn at saipanruss@yahoo.com.
