Babauta wins CWGA September Ace

Babauta Lorraine Babauta triumphed over 17 other competitors to clinch the CNMI Women's Golf Association September Ace.

Babauta managed a 43 in the first nine holes for a share of third place at the turn and finished the last nine holes strong with a 42 that gave her a solid 85 gross on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort last Sept. 8. Deducting her 10 handicap, Babauta ended up with a field-low net of 75, two strokes ahead of Shiori Onoue.

Notably, Onoue (39/43) and Yuko Togawa (42/40) finished with field-low gross scores of 82, however the former settled for second place with her 77 after the handicap adjustment, while the latter dropped to third with her net 78.

Babauta's win qualified her into the CWGA's Ace of Aces tournament, scheduled for April 2013. She joins May Ace Noriko Togawa, June's Xiao Lin Wang, July's Sherlyln Jones. and August's Me Ae Jeon.

Established in 2007, the CWGA is a non-profit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf . The CWGA utilizes a standard net score format, where a predetermined point system is tallied during the season.

First place is awarded 15 points, in addition to a bid into the Ace of Aces finale tournament, while 14 points go to second and so on down through the Top 10 finishers The remaining participants get one point each.
