Dan Ganacias came away as the Filtaga Golfers Association's September Ace of the Month winner after completion of the club's monthly event held at the Mariana Resort & Country Club last Sunday.
Ganacias held the lead at the turn with a raw 40 on the front nine holes and held off the other 16 competitors on the back side with a 44.
His 84 gross total was factored into a field low net score of 68, which earned him entry into the season-ending FilTaga Ace of Aces tournament, which is scheduled for January 2013.
He bested Jacinto Ramones who turned in a field low gross score of 82, Larry Pascual (85), and Arnold Galang who all finished in a three-way tie for second place with 71 net tallies.
Filtaga's October Ace event is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 21, however the venue is still being determined; show time is set for noon with a 12:30pm tee off.
Ganacias joins January's A and B aces Richard Atalig and James Mitchell, February's Randy Tudela, March's Paul Bea, April A and B's William Retardo and Ruben Avendano, May's Lito Mendoza, June's Adony Matutino, July's Mando Guban, and August's Nestor Siruelo.
If more than 20 golfers turn out for an event, two ace winners will be recognized as the group is divided into two separate fields.
Filtaga tournaments are held once a month usually on the third Sunday of each month. In addition to a berth into the finale event, the winners also receive a modest cash prize. A $300 prize also goes to anyone who manages to sink a hole-in-one.
New members must pay half of the initial required annual fee ($50), excluding monthly green fees, in order to join the club. The group uses a USGA-approved, computer-based handicap system, which is regularly updated on their website, www.filtaga.com.
