It looks as though Shane “PikaBoo” Alvarez's (7-1) opponent will not be unveiled until fight night as he is still listed to appear against a mystery foe in this coming Friday's Trench Tech Purebred Promotions' Rites Of Passage 13: Destiny.
Notably, Countershot MMA's Jared “Smiley Face” Santos (0-1) and Zalaka's Ian Iriate have been removed from the card, but new names such as Trench Tech/Tiyan Tough Walkers' “Shishka” Bob Alvarez as well as host of others have been added into the mix.
Santos has already made three ROP appearances and may appear in the ensuing Trench Warz event this December.
ROP 13 is highlighted by an anticipated Saipan vs. France main event and not one, but two title bouts.
The mixed martial arts action is scheduled to go down in Saipan World Resort's Royal Taga Ball Room starting at 8pm. A total of 12 MMA bouts and four K-1 kickboxing exhibitions are tentatively listed on the fight card.
Originally headlined for last year, the main event between Trench Tech's Martin “Ningboo-Slice" Cepeda (4-1) and Ground Fu-Frenchman Ferrid "The Hurricane" Kheder (18-10-1 NC), was postponed because of an injury endured by Cepeda during training.
The curtain closer is expected to bring some fireworks, granted that both fighters weigh-in somewhere between 175 and 180 lbs.
Kheder's experience is nothing to take lightly, however he is coming off a slate of five losses and a no-contest since December 2010. A win for Cepeda could potentially help him land an off-island opportunity down the road.
Trench Tech featherweight champion Rob “The Real Deal” Wusstig (4-5), of Guam's Countershot MMA team, will have his hands full against Trench Tech's Fasi "Quikdraw" Jesse (9-4), who vows to keep the belt on home soil.
Meanwhile, Trench Tech bantamweight champion Mark “The Dark” Nuique (8-1) is looking to bounce back from his first ever loss in a must-win setting as his local title is on the line against Zalaka's Jacob “One Blow” Ilo (0-2).
The most recent alteration to the fight card features “Shishka” Bob Alvarez lined up across Marianas Elite's Vince “Vincsanity” Pua (2-1) at 150 lbs.
In addition, a fourth bantamweight (135 lbs) match has been added to the aforementioned trio, which features Trench Tech /Tiyan Tough Walkers' Roman “Boom” Alvarez tangling with Josh “Oh My Gosh” Cruz.
Lights Out Gym's Kyle Toves, of Guam, has been confirmed to take on Garry Ray, while as reported, Trench Tech's Vince "The Clinch" Masga (3-1) will be pitted against Zalaka's Joe Duenas (3-1); and Saipan independent fighter Ray “Faluwasch” Teregeyo (0-1) is paired against Lights Out Gym's Derick Padrones.
Other MMA matchups include Wusstig's Guahan comrade Joe “Young Blood” Ramirez, out of Underworld Xtreme, colliding with Team Haga newcomer Travis "Flying Man" Eubanks, at 170 lbs; Trench Tech's Donavin Mendiola debuting against Pwang's Peter “Project K” Keju (0-2) at 160 lbs; and Saipan independent fighter Leo Mendiola squaring off against Tavita independent Kevin Villagomez at 120 lbs.
The K-1 pairings show a featherweight match between Zeng Zung's Regino Mundo of Tinian battling Zalaka first-timer Nick Jones at 145 lbs; Zalaka's Jordan Manglona squaring off against Trench Tech newcomer Wini Roldan Jr. at 130 lbs; Guam Muay Thai first-timer Kyle “300” Martin stepping to the ring against Trench Tech's Renz "The Intense” Benghit at 140 lbs; and Trench Tech's Jomar “Dynamite” Danas clashing with Guam Muay Thai's Jared "The Spartan" Martin, also at 140 lbs.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Tha Trapp, Docomo Pacific, Boarderline, or at the Trench Tech Gym, which relocated earlier this year to the 7th floor of the Marianas Business Plaza, in Susupe. Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP seating.
