Team Saipan's Simon Manacop finished in eight place after the first block of the men's masters category of the 23rd Asian Intercity Bowling Championships.
The Department of Public Safety detective rolled an eight-game total of 1,776 Thursday night at the Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam.
Manacop actually knocked down 1,736 pins but was given 40 extra bonus points, giving him a stout average of 222 pins per game.
The second block of the men's masters was held last night, but scores were still unavailable as of press time.
Daegu's Choi Suk Byung leads the men's masters with his 2,060 pinfalls. He is followed by host Tamuning's Jonathan Duenas with his 1,911. At third place is Daegu's Kim Young Pyo with his 1,869, while rounding out the Top 5 are Tamuning's J.D. Castro and Brian Manibusan with pinfalls of 1,844 and 1,820, respectively.
The rest of the men's masters field are as follows: Daegu's Shin Sung Hoon (1,798); Hong Kong's Lau Kwan Ho (1,798); Daegu's Bae Wu Wook (1,763); Quezon City's Jar Ar Tan (1,763); Tamuning's John John Ada (1,721); Taipei's Wang Kuah-Yu (1,698); Pohang's Im Hyun Woo (1,695); Quezon City's Louie Chuaquico (1,655); Victoria's Alex Li Siu Tsan (1,643); and Hong Kong's Michael Chan Yatw Chan (1,624).
In the women's masters, Tamuning's Felymar Mandapat leads the way with her 1,879, followed closely by Pohang's Kim Hee Jung with her 1,878. Third place belongs to Paranaque's Liza Clutario with her 1,851, while fourth and fifth are Clutario's teammates Cecilia Yap and Lara Posadas with 1,817 and 1815, respectively.
Rounding out the women's masters participants are Tamuning's Shellee Javier (1,726), Pohang's Yoon Jun Sil (1,677), Daegu's Choi Hyung Yeon (1,658), Pasay's Ditas Red (1,655) and Sheena Angeli Go (1,621), Tamuning's Leanne Rankin (1,606), Daegu's Kim Eun Sook (1,595), Shah Alam's Choy Poh Lai (1,584), Pasay's Angeli Lao (1,577), and Pasay's Yap Seok Kim (1,482).
