This year's graduating students of Green Meadow School were specially honored with an inspirational talk by businessman Anthony Pellegrino.
An educator himself who spent 12 years of his professional life teaching in the United States and Japan, Pellegrino holds a bachelor's degree in Education from Kutztown State Teacher College in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and a master's degree in Liberal Arts from the Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In his speech, Pellegrino shared with the graduates and with the rest of the audience his thoughts on three subjects, urging the students to always keep them in mind: continuity of life, the reality of change in life, and making decisions as an inevitable part of daily life. In discussing these points, some parents and guests in the audience described Pellegrino's speech as “using simple and direct illustrations made remarkably interesting with powerful and effective delivery.”
Pellegrino summarized his remarks with the following statement: “I wish to remind you first, to accept change because it affects all of us greatly. And secondly, make daily decisions carefully and wisely. And third, work hard and don't give up and you will succeed and be a wonderfully happy person.”
The graduation ceremonies marking the 9th and 2nd Commencement Exercises for preschool/kindergarten and elementary level respectively were held on May 19, 2012, at the Pedro A.
