At a farewell luncheon on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, the justices and staff of the CNMI Judiciary bid their farewells to Charlotte S. Sanders who, for a year, has been a law clerk for Associate Justice John A. Manglona.
A certificate of appreciation was presented to Sanders by acting chief justice Alexandro C. Castro and Associate Justice John A. Manglona attesting to “her exemplary performance as a law clerk, thereby materially contributing to the maintenance of liberty under law through the fair and impartial administration of justice in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.”
Sanders graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in June 2011. In law school, she was the managing editor of production for the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal, a member of the Moot Court Honor Board, and a winner of the Judson A. Falkner Appellate Advocacy Competition. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of Washington with honors, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and was president of the University of Washington's Speech and Debate Society.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Castro and Manglona were most flattering of Sanders' contribution to the Judiciary. In addition to her diligent work on important cases, Sanders' energy and invaluable friendship were cited by her colleagues as something very special that will truly be missed.
Sanders intends to pursue civil litigation in the next stage of her legal career. (NMI Judiciary)
