The Triple A Baseball League starts today at 5pm at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
The league features youth players ages 15 to 18 and is being organized by the Saipan Major League Baseball Association, in conjunction with the Division of Youth Services.
The first matchup will take place after the opening ceremony or at 6pm. Five teams make up the field.
Games are tentatively scheduled on Friday and Saturday evenings for the first couple of weeks. Then games will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays once the SML adult season concludes. The season is expected to run through the end of October or early November this year.
Family and friends of aspiring players are invited to come out and witness the action.
Guam Masters Games
In related baseball news, interested Masters-level male baseball players, and female softball players who want to compete in the 1st Annual Guam Masters Games are requested to attend a 5pm organizational meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Minachom Atdao pavilion across the “Tan Ko” pitch.
The competition will be held at the Leo Palace Resort in Guam from Sep. 9 to Sept.16.
Male players ages 40 and above are eligible to participate, while female players must be at least 30.
Entrance fee for men's team is $1,100 and $500 for women's. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
The competitions are organized by the Guam Masters Federation, Tropical Productions, Inc. and Leo Palace Resort, which will be offering special room rates for participants.
