Local musicians from the Commonwealth are encouraged to join an exciting musical competition that will entitle them to a trip to Australia and take part in a professional recording session with Radio Australia and the Australian Broadcasting Corp.
Radio Australia's Pacific Break contest is now in its fifth year. This year's winner will fly to Australia to spend a week with the company where they will also have the opportunity to record a demo in its ABC studios to showcase their musical talents and to learn from industry professionals.
The invitation for the CNMI artists was relayed by Patrick Black, the public diplomacy and research officer of the Australian Embassy, to Tan Siu Lin Foundation manager Ed Arriola, Jr. when Arriola announced plans for Tan Holdings to hold a free musical concert for Labor Day celebration next month.

Based on available information about the Pacific Break contest, the winner will fly to Australia to record a demo of their best song within a professional recording environment, showcase their musical talents and learn from industry professionals. They'll also attend the Australasian World Music Expo in Melbourne accompanied by a local music mentor who will provide guidance and assistance throughout their Australian experience.
Over the past four years, Radio Australia's Pacific Break has been committed to uncovering the best unsigned original musicians the Pacific has to offer with the winners from each year performing at Fest'Napuan, a four-day music festival in Vanuatu.
In Pacific Break's inaugural year in 2008, Vanuatu's 26 Roots were named as winners, followed in 2009 by Papua New Guinea's Emmanuel Mailau, Solomon Islands impressive reggae artists III Kings in 2010, and Fijian hip-hop crew BSQ last year.
Pacific Break accepts entries from any Pacific artist provided they don't have a recording or publishing contract. The best entries received in the competition will be featured on the Pacific Break 2012 compilation CD, and as always, all entries received will be available for download on the Pacific Break website and played across Radio Australia's FM network in the Pacific.
