MHS orientation this Thursday

Marianas High School will be holding an orientation for all incoming freshman and new and transfer students this Thursday, Aug. 23, 9am in the MHS Gym.

We encourage parents and guardians to also attend because there will be policies and important information that will be shared. During the orientation, students will also be getting their picture taken for their student ID. Should you have any questions, please call the school at 237-3206/3/5. (PR)

The Friends of the Arts to stage Deathtrap on October

The Friends of the Arts is pleased to announce its next theatrical presentation, the Broadway success Deathtrap, scheduled for Oct. 12, 13, and 14. Written by Ira Levin, Deathtrap holds the record as the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway. The FOA production of this two-act play will be directed by Harold Easton.

Revenue & Taxation open on Aug. 31

Department of Revenue and Taxation wishes to inform all CNMI residents that its office will be open on Aug. 31,2012. The division would like to remind the general public that July 2012 Business Gross Revenue Tax return file is due on Aug. 31. (PR)

Air Force, Navy to conduct training at FDM, WA 517

SANTA RITA, Guam
-The U.S. Navy will conduct training at W-517 on Aug. 22-23 from 8am to 5pm

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on Aug 23 from 9am to 5pm.

The general public-especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators-are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. Farallon de Medinilla plays a special and unique role in national defense because its location provides access frequency that supports established training requirements. In addition, the air and sea space in the Farallon provides sufficient room for the many different attack profiles necessary to replicate training opportunities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises.

This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank.
