Rotary eyes catered Thanksgiving lunch for man'amko

The Rotary Club of Saipan is exploring the possibility of having their annual Man'amko Thanksgiving Luncheon catered out this year, according to Community Services director Curtis Dancoe.

Dancoe said Tuesday that the extra time would allow Rotarians to plan for a skit with a Thanksgiving theme, which the island's senior citizens can enjoy.

Traditionally, the Rotary Club of Saipan hosts a sumptuous Thanksgiving luncheon as a treat to the congregates at the Aging Center. The Rotarians themselves serve the prepared food.

“We're looking at getting the luncheon catered out so that we can focus more on the man'amko and be a little bit more interactive with them,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Dancoe said they will start preparing for a simple production to be staged during the actual luncheon.

He described the play as “funny” and “lighthearted” since the Rotarians are not professional thespians.

“Hopefully, we can get the man'amko to participate since they're pretty good thespians themselves. We want to come up with a skit and share that with them,” added Dancoe.

Besides the luncheon, the Rotary Club of Saipan also holds a raffle drawing for the senior citizens.
