Tan Holdings FC donates cleaning supplies to SAES

Officials of the Tan Holdings Football Club present boxes of industrial cleaners to San Antonio Elementary School principal James Sablan and several students in a brief ceremony at the Home of the Octopus grounds yesterday morning. (Clarissa V. David) The San Antonio Elementary School got itself a range of cleaning and sanitation supplies with a donation from the Tan Holdings Football Club yesterday.

School principal James Sablan and several students received 10 cases of industrial cleaners from officials of the Tan Holdings FC led by president Eli Arago, vice president and overall technical coach Jershwin Angeles, general secretary Ariel Marianao, and U6 coach Ladyvir Canape.

The Home of the Octopus serves as the Tan Holdings FC's home field where they hold their scrimmages, practices, and trainings. The club has about 150 players in the youth, men, and women's categories.

Arago said they try to give something back to San Antonio Elementary School as their way of expressing appreciation to the school. In the past, Tan Holdings FC donated trash cans and also conducted cleanup drives.

“We're happy that we're able to help them in our own small way in return for graciously hosting our group. These cleaning materials would help them in the upkeep of the school grounds,” Arago told Saipan Tribune.

Sablan, for his part, thanked the Tan Holdings FC for their generosity at a time when San Antonio Elementary School and the rest of the Public School System are affected by budget shortfalls.

“Any donation, whether it's in-kind or monetary or services, is always appreciated,” he said.

Sablan said the cleaning supplies would go a long way in ensuring that their campus is ready and well-maintained for the student population.

He stressed the importance of having San Antonio Elementary School foster partnerships with private companies and nonprofit organizations, given the limited resources coming from the government.

Working with the community, Sablan added, also teaches students how they can become productive members of society in the future.
