3-way logjam in Kanoa women's caging

Three teams are caught up in a tie on top of the team standings at the end of the first round of the 2012 Kanoa Resort Women's Fall Basketball League.

IDK Who, UCC, and Kiss My Pass hold identical 2-1 records after completing their first round assignments at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium of the TSL Sports Complex to share the No. 1 spot in the four-team field.

IDK Who notched its second straight win after losing its debut to Kiss May Pass, following a 51-49 victory over former solo leader UCC last Wednesday. Kiss My Pass gained its second triumph last Monday after crushing Ichiban (0-3), 59-27.

Irish Pagarao led IDK Who's win, as she scored a game-high 26 points, including the team's last 4 points that ensured their victory. Pagarao made 10 of her total markers in the fourth quarter to lift IDK Who to a come-from-behind win.

UCC led the closely fought match after the third period, 39-35, but lost the game eventually after drilling only four field goals in the payoff canto and failing to neutralize Pagarao. Pagarao drained a basket in the last 18 seconds for IDK's 4-point lead, 51-47, with less than 20 seconds left, and UCC ran out of time to score the needed 4 points to send the game into overtime, as it only earned two free throws, courtesy of Lily Williams.

In last Monday's game, Kiss My Pass limited Ichiban to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters to cruise to the victory.

Ichiban had only 6 and 7 points in the first two quarters and had its lowest output in the third with 3, allowing Kiss My Pass to seal the win early, leading at 37-16.

Diane Pablo paced Kiss My pass with 19 markers.

UCC 49 - Abrams 11, Lebria 11, Williams 8, Alferos 2.

Scoring by quarters: 18-14, 28-28, 35-39, 51-49.
