As part of its series on Micronesia, Japanese television program “Wonder Airport” visited Saipan, Tinian, and Rota last week to give its viewers details on this beach resort destination-and its airports.
The show, which airs on BS-NTV every Saturday evening, has a viewership of over 43 million and is expected to bring the Northern Mariana Islands $5.5 million in advertising exposure.
“Wonder Airport is a series of overseas destination programs, with special focus on airports and airlines,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “They have already featured 46 destinations around the world, and this is their first time featuring Micronesia. Through negotiations with the show producer, we were able to entice them to feature Tinian and Rota, in addition to Saipan. This show now draws attention to all our destination's attractions and creates awareness for all three islands.”
The MVA assisted the FAM tour with ground transportation and film permitting during their visit.
While in the Northern Marianas, the FAM tour also filmed on Managaha, during Sunday Mass at San Francisco de Borja parish, at souvenir shops, and at other popular tourist spots on all three islands. The crew also took in a submarine tour and a turtle snorkeling tour during their visit. (MVA)
