Q: How did you become interested in football?

A:
My friends invited me one time to play soccer with them. I joined their practice and enjoyed how coach does the training. I joined the team and started to play the game.

Q: Why do you like to play football?

A:
It's a fun sport to play, it keeps me healthy, and I am able to meet new friends.

Q: What are your greatest football achievements?

A:
Being chosen as the goalie of our team, I was able to attend the goalkeeping training of former pro football player Johann Noetzel.

Q: What other message can you share with the football community?

A:
Playing soccer can help us avoid doing bad things, like taking drugs and stealing. We learn to listen to our coach, practice teamwork, and stay healthy.

“Although he is just new to the sport, I can see his interest in improving. He pays attention to instructions. He also comes on time and always ready to play. He always shows good sportsmanship and has a good camaraderie with his teammates”
-Mii's coach Fradel Sedillo

Name: Mikky Vargas
Age Group: Women's U21
Team: Shirley's FC
Position: Center Defense
Jersey No.: #5
Years of Playing Experience: 23 months
Village: San Vicente
School: Saipan Southern High School
Grade: 12
Favorite Player or Team: Cristiano Ronaldo/Real Madrid

Q: How did you become interested in football?

A:
My mom encouraged me to try something different other than academics, music, and arts. As I progressed, I started to love the adrenaline rush that came with the game.

Q: Why do you like to play football?

A:
Football is FUN! You meet new people and you learn cool tricks with a soccer ball. Other than that, it brings me one step closer to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Q: What are your greatest football achievements?

A:
Development of communication skills. My position is center defense. I am the last man, or woman in my case, and being able to communicate to your team as last man is important. Other than that, taking part in off-island trips through football is another great achievement.

Q: What other message can you share with the football community?

A:
Just believe in yourself!

“I admire Mikky's commitment to the sport. She has a strong passion for the game and always has that thirst to become a better player, scratch that, to become the best player. I have seen Mikky injure herself many times in football, and yet she still has the will to go on and finish the game. Mikky has the desire to learn new things about football, from learning how to juggle to doing a bicycle kick.”
-Mikky's coach Ruselle Zapanta
