The Commonwealth Zoning Board convened last week to welcome its newest member and to approve three conditional use permit applications.
Zoning administrator Therese T. Ogumoro said yesterday that board member Gus Kaipat was received by board chair Diego C. Blanco, member Herman Sablan, and treasurer Alice Igitol who joined the meeting on Thursday via teleconference.
Kaipat and Bruce Bateman were confirmed to serve in the board by the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation on Aug. 31.
Bateman, however, was unable to join the board during the meeting as he was off-island, according to Ogumoro.
“We're hoping that Ed would complete his paperwork requirements so he can receive his confirmation as well,” she told Saipan Tribune, referring to former board secretary Ed Arriola Jr.
Thursday's meeting also saw the approval of three conditional use permit applications which did not receive any opposition, according to Ogumoro.
The first was application #2011-4240 by Salome R. Limes, who wants to operate Tia's Child Care & Tutoring Services, a day care center on her property located at lot 011-G-607 in Kagman, which is in a Village Residential zone.

Ayuyu. The property is located on Track #22703-8 on Chalan Pale Arnold next to Quartermaster Road, which is zoned as Mixed Commercial.
