Northern Mariana Islands Football Association honored the top performers in the 2012 NMIFA Youth Spring League in a ceremony that coincided with the launching of the M-League last Sunday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The association recognized the Best 11 in the boys U18 and U15 and the Best 9 in the girls U15, with NMIFA president Jerry Tan handing awardees miniature trophies. Assisting Tan in the trophy presentation were NMIFA Youth Committee chair Vickie Izuka and NMIFA general secretary Ed Salas.
Named to U18's Best 11 were forwards Zhi Lin of Paire FC and MP United's Jehn Joyner; midfielders Chris Park and Joon Lee of MP United, Tanapon Unsa of Tan Holdings FC, and Juanito Tiamzon of Paire FC; defenders Kaisei Toda and Greg Kim of MP United FC, Kenneth Domingo of Tan Holdings FC, and Raphael Zapanta of Paire; and goalkeeper Gregzon Fontanilla of MP United.
MP United also dominated the Best 11 in the boys U15 with defenders Enrico Del Rosario, Kennedy Izuka, John Diego Masga, and Ryan Kim, Joyner, and midfielder Dakota Hall making the list. Completing the elite cast are Matansa forward Sean Perez, Paire midfielders Joel Fruit and Hunter Jewell, and Shirley's goalkeeper Mii Tekopua.
In the girls U15 Best 9, the selection is composed of forwards Diana Maniacop of Shirley's and Negahr Rastguiy of MPUnited; midfielders Alex Vergara of Shirley's, Gabrielle Race of MP United, and Jezreelyn Bulaklak of Matansa; defenders Mikael Duenas of Paire FC, Tiana Ranjo of Matansa, and Marielle Gariguez of Shirley's; and MP United goal keeper Masami Sato.
The top performers in the spring season were selected based on coaches votes.
Meanwhile, NMIFA also recognized the champions of the youth leagues. MP United ruled both the boys U18 and U15 divisions, while Shirley's triumphed in the girls U15 category.
