John Gonzales LIVE! schedule

Today's edition of John Gonzales LIVE! will feature part 2 of the topic “Let's Move Marianas! September 2012 Campaign Against Childhood Obesity & Childhood Cancer.”

Guests will include Amber Rosario Mendiola, Let's Move Marianas! 2012 Campaign Planning chairwoman; Trina Sablan, Non-Communicable Disease Bureau media coordinator, Public Health Division, Commonwealth Health Care Corp.; childhood cancer survivors; Dr. Daniel Lamar, NCD Bureau medical adviser; and Roxanne Diaz, Division of Public Health director.

The program will air live today, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on MCV Ch. 14. It will be replayed tomorrow, Thursday, from 7pm to 8pm, and on Friday, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, also on MCV Ch. 14. (PR)

GOP fundraiser cancelled


The GOP Precinct 5 fundraiser that was scheduled for the Pacific Islands Club on Sept. 23 was cancelled until further notice. All ticket holders will be contacted and informed of the new date, according to Jess Muna, GOP Precinct 5 Committee chairman. (PR)

Tsunami awareness workshop this week


The Emergency Management Office, in conjunction with National Disaster Preparedness Training Center, International Tsunami Information Center, Hawaii State Civil Defense, and National Weather Services in Guam, will be conducting a CNMI Tsunami Awareness Workshop and Training Course AWR-217 on Saipan on Sept. 27 and 28, 2012, at Kanoa Resort, Saipan. The session will be primarily for government officials and non-government agencies that are a normal part of the Response Action Team, and for hotels, business sector, other non-government agencies, and the media.

Korean Singing Contest on Nov. 23

The Korean Cultural Center will host a Korean Singing Contest at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe on Nov. 23. There will also be photo sessions in King and Queen costumes and exhibition for Love Korea movement from Nov. 19 to 24. Details will be announced later. Those who want to participate are asked to send their name and phone number to koreancultureweek@gmail.com. If you want to learn how to sing Korean songs, join special classes at Korean Community School, 4pm-6pm on Sept. 21 and 28 (Fridays) and 3pm-4pm on Sept. 22 and 29 (Saturdays).
