Matansa won its debut in the 2012 NMIFA Youth Fall League last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, while Shirley's FC and MP United settled for a draw to remain tied for the lead in the girls U15 division.
Matansa faced Paire (0-0-2 win-draw-loss record) in its first game of the season and eked out a 2-1 victory. Maile Aldrich scored one goal for Matansa, which got the winning goal in the second half off a Paire error. Paire's lone goal was courtesy of Kayleen Salle in the first half.
In the second game, MP United and Shirley's, which won its debut two weeks ago, both scored two goals to end their Week 2 match in a draw. Marielle Gariguez canned a pair for the spring champion Shirley's FC, while Savannah Delos Santos and Jan-Nasia Travilla had one each for MP United.
After Week 2, Shirley's and MP United are in a deadlock for the lead as they have 4 points apiece, just one point ahead of Matansa. Tan Holding's FC (0-0-1) drew a bye last Saturday.
BOYS U15
MP United 9, Shirley's 0
In the first game in last Friday at the Oleai Sport Complex Field, MP United had another lopsided win after blanking Shirley's.
MP United, which clobbered Tan Holdings in Week 1, 14-0, drew two goals each from Scott Kim, Daniel, and John Taisacan to rout Shirley's (0-0-2). Also scoring for MP United were Amir Abes, Dakota Hall, and John Diego Masga.
Matansa 3, Paire 0
The debuting Matansa duplicated MP United's feat after shutting out Paire in the second game.
Sean Perez drained twin goals for Matansa (1-0-0), while Ryu Tanzawa chipped in one, putting their squad in second place in the team standings. Paire dropped to third place with its 1-0-1 card.
BOYS U18
Tan Holdings 4, MPU-1 3
Tan Holdings broke into the win column after drawing MP United-2 in Week 1, following a close victory over MP United-1 last Saturday at the Oleai pitch.
Tanapon Unsa had back-to-back goals in the second half to lift Tan Holdings to its first win. Jeff Chan put Tan Holdings in the board with his goal in the 21st minute and also tied the game after MPU-1's Jake Lee drew first blood in the 14th minute.
Tanyakorn Konkoed scored next (30th minute) for Tan Holdings, which led at the break, 2-1, before Joon Lee made the equalizer in the 52nd minute. Unsa then broke the deadlock with his goal in the 83rd and five minutes later, he got his second goal to stretch Tan Holdings' lead. Jake Lee also earned his second goal (98th), but MPU-1 ran out of time to force a draw.
In other results, Paire (2-0-0) had a free win after the debuting Matansa failed to field enough players in the first game.
