Library Friends fundraises nearly $1K in golf tourney
»Group to hold monthly book sale tomorrow

In a golf tournament over the weekend, Library Friends raised a total of $929 that will be used to buy new books for the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

While 32 players showed up on Sept. 29 at Coral Ocean Point, a total of 35 players paid for registration at $75 per person.

Saturday's winners were Joey Dela Cruz who won 1st prize and took home $300; Ray Villagomez, 2nd prize of $250; Don Dunlop, 3rd prize of $200; Jack Salas, who donated back to the library his 4th prize winnings of $150; and Choi Yong Min, 5th prize of $100.

Winners of the Pacific Insurance Closest to the Pin game were Joe Saures and Don Dunlop.

Library Friends president Maureen Sebangiol said the fundraising golf tournament was part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the CNMI's state library.

When asked if they plan to make the golf tournament as an annual fundraiser, Sebangiol said that would depend on “having active, ongoing participation” within the Library Friends.

Book sale

Sebangiol reminded the public that Library Friends will be hosting their monthly book sale tomorrow, Oct. 6 at 9am instead of 8am to allow library staff to set up the tent.

“The library now has tents available so that we do not need to spend our funds renting one each month,” she said.

Depending on how the event goes, the book sale can go on until 1pm instead of noon. For more information, call 235-7316 or 15.
