'Ice' possession lands man in prison

A man was slapped with a three-year prison term without the possibility of parole for illegal possession of methamphetamine or “ice.”

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced George Taitano Manglona to three years in prison, with credit for the 100 days he has already spent in jail. He was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, and $100 court costs.

The Office of the Attorney General charged Manglona with trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Manglona pleaded guilty to illegal possession as part of a plea deal. The remaining charge was dropped.

Police said that members of the Drug Enforcement Task Force and Criminal Investigation Bureau used a “cooperating source” to buy $100 worth of “ice” each from Manglona and Juan D. Tydingco in separate operations on June 14, 2012.

The detectives allegedly managed to buy three grams of “ice” from Manglona.
