Docomo Pacific donates $9k to MTEC

Docomo Pacific general manager James Nelson, fourth from right, leads a check presentation of over $9,400 to the Marianas Tourism Education Council on Oct. 5, 2012, attended by Docomo Pacific and MTEC representatives. (MVA) The Marianas Tourism Education Council received a boost from Docomo Pacific on Oct. 5, 2012, with the donation of $9,473.73 in proceeds from the Docomo Pacific Golf Classic held last month.

Docomo Pacific general manager James Nelson led the check presentation to MTEC chair Vicky Benavente, flanked by Docomo Pacific management and staff and MTEC members at the phone company's Gualo Rai office.

“It's imperative that we reinforce the importance of our tourism industry to our high school students, and the MY WAVE clubs are an effective way of doing so,” said Nelson. “Docomo Pacific looks forward to hosting next year's event for the benefit of MTEC, again.”

MTEC is a non-profit organization aimed at educating the public on the importance of the tourism industry.

“MTEC is extremely appreciative to Docomo Pacific for their continued financial support of our educational initiatives,” said Benavente. “In addition to our MTEC-MY WAVE Tourism Summit and school educational presentations, this funding will allow us to expand our programs and reach more students and community members with the message that tourism is everybody's business.”

Organizations and individuals interested in joining MTEC may contact MVA Community Projects manager Martin Duenas at mduenas@mymarianas.com or (670) 664-3210 for more information. (MVA)
