Two arrested for beating up teen

A driver of an alleged illegal taxi and his male companion beat up and threatened to kill a teen passenger in Tanapag on Sunday morning, police said.

Ji Jing Borja and Han Tai Lin were arrested Tuesday afternoon for assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, assault, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. Their bail was set yesterday at $11,750 cash each.

Police detective Josef P. Deleon Guerrero stated in his report that officers were dispatched to a residence in Tanapag on Sunday at 11:18am for an alleged disturbance.

The juvenile claimed that he called an illegal taxi to pick him up at Chacha Oceanview Junior High School in Kagman on his way to his girlfriend's house in Tanapag. Before even reaching the Sara Market on Capital Hill, the driver asked for payment for the ride.

When the juvenile explained that he was going to get the money from his girlfriend, the driver allegedly got mad and pulled a screwdriver and threatened to kill him.

Instead of going to Tanapag, the taxi brought him to Middle Road and then to Garapan where the driver picked up the other suspect.

The driver threatened to throw the juvenile off Banzai Cliff and repeatedly punched him in the face.

When they later reached Chalan Pale Arnold Highway in Tanapag, the taxi slowed down because of a truck in front of them. The juvenile managed to jump out of the taxi and ran to his girlfriend's house where he sought the police's help.

A police officer later spotted the taxi, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
