The Emergency Management Office issued yesterday a high surf advisory, warning the public to avoid venturing near exposed beaches and reefs due to dangerous rip currents.
The EMO advisory states that moderate to occasionally fresh trade winds and combined seas of 7 to 8 feet are expected through Saturday.
The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6pm today.
“Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet is expected along west and north facing reefs tonight and Thursday. Surf should fall to below hazardous levels by Thursday evening,” the advisory states.
The public is advised to avoid exposed reefs and beaches, especially north and west facing reefs as rip currents are life threatening. (EMO)
