Applications for Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program due Nov.16

HONOLULU-USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service reminds potential applicants to contact their local NRCS office to find out if they are eligible for the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program. Applications for the first ranking period are due at NRCS offices by close of business on Nov. 16, 2012.  Applications for the second ranking period are due on Feb.13, 2013. The NRCS Office Locator is available at www.pia.nrcs.usda.gov.

“Last year we obligated more than $2.5 million through FRPP,” said Angel Figueroa, NRCS director of the Pacific Islands Area.

The Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program is a voluntary program to help farmers and ranchers preserve their agricultural land. The program provides matching funds to state, tribal, and local governments, and nongovernmental organizations with farmland protection programs to purchase conservation easements.
