Saipan International School's White Geckos clinched first place in the standings as they recorded their fourth win in as many games in the 2012-2012 Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization Higj School Boys Volleyball League last Tuesday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
SIS White made light work of Saipan Southern High School's Manta Rays in all three sets, 25-15, 25-13, 15-9, to become the only undefeated squad in the eight-team field. The White Geckos also served SSHS its third loss in four matches.
In other results, SIS Green Geckos labored a victory over the MHS Yellow Dolphins (1-3) after the first two sets. SIS Green started strong out of the gate and took the first set, 25-9, and hung tough in the second set to secure the nod, 25-19. The Green Geckos dropped the third set, 12-15, but they still improved to a 3-1 card, tying Grace Christian Academy's Eagles and the MHS Blue Dolphins for second place in the standings.
The Eagles remain a strong contender after brooming Mount Carmel School's Knights in three sets. The Eagles soundly downed their opponents in the first set, 25-15, and mustered one final push in the second duel to secure the win, 25-22, before bagging the sweep, 15-12.
MHS Blue received a forfeit win over the Kagman High School Ayuyus (0-4), who have been no-shows since opening day.
The season continues today at 4pm with SIS White taking on SIS Green on the north court and SSHS clashing with MHS Yellow on the south end. Then at 5pm, KHS meets GCA on the north square, while MHS Blue collides with MCS on the south court.
