The Women's U21 Division of the M-League kicked off last Saturday night at the Oleai Sports Complex Field with Cosmos edging Rowdies in the opener, 3-2.
Lalaine Pagarao scored two goals in the first half for Cosmos before leaving the game with still five minutes left due to injury, while Mae Ito canned the other goal for the winning team.
Joining Pagarao and Ito on the squad are Maica Aniana, Ciaralyn Apostol, Jhaneeka Atalig, Mary Fem Urena, Melody Johnson, Charlene Lizardo, Michelle Masga, Elizabeth Phan, Tiana Ranjo, Mikky Vargas, and Yvonne Indalecio. Patricia Coleman coaches Cosmos.
Playing for Rowdies are Kimberly Ada, Jeralyn Castillo, Elaine Enriguez, Phalai Frink, Marielle Gariguez, Kaisa Lucido, Rachael Masga, Dianne Pablo, Gabrielle Race, Masami Sato, Alexa Vergara, and Julian Estopado. Ruselle Zapanta is Rowdies coach, but Jershwin Angeles called the shots for the team in last weekend's opener, as the former was still in Malaysia playing in the 26th Asian Intercity Bowling Championships.
Gariguez recorded her first goal in the U21 league, while Frink also made it to the scoreboard in the closing minutes of the game.
Meanwhile, Week 6 of the M-League (men's open division) will be played tomorrow with Tan Holding's FC (1-1-1 win-draw-loss record) taking on Inter Godfather's (1-1-1) in the Division 1 game at 2pm. Then at 4pm, Korean Football Association on Saipan (1-1-0) will face Paire FC (0-0-2). In the lone Division 2 match at 6pm, MP United (2-0-0) duels Kanoa Resort (0-0-3). Week 6 action in the M-League will then close out on Wednesday with a 6:30pm game between MP United and Matansa FC (4-0-0)P United and Matansa FC (4-0-0)
