Chamber tournament achieves goal

Saipan Chamber of Commerce president Doug Brennan said the Chamber's goal to raise funds for next year's SCC college scholarship awards was met through proceeds at the 5th annual SCC Golf Tournament this past Saturday at Coral Ocean Point.

“With the tournament's proceeds, and with funds raised at this year's SCC Corporate Challenge and the debate forums held this October, we've met our goal to award $10,000 in college scholarships in 2013. We couldn't have done it without the outstanding contributions made by our Chamber membership,” Brennan stated.

A total of $20,553 worth of prizes in cash and contributions led to 923 raffle tickets sold, 36 closest-to-the-pin tickets sold, and an additional 35 players on top of 19 hole sponsorships contributed by SCC members. The Chamber will net over $4,000 for the 2013 scholarship award program.

“We want to thank our premium contributors, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and DFS Galleria. Our hole-in-one sponsors, Bank of Hawaii, Triple J Motors, Takagi & Associates, and AON Insurance stepped up as they have done in the past,” Brennan said.

SCC had hole sponsors totaling 19. They included Microl Corp., First Hawaiian Bank, ASC Trust, Ambyth Shipping Micronesia, Bank of Saipan, MITA, G4S Security Services, MCV, Saipan Stevedore Co., MARPAC, TakeCare Insurance, Pacific Islands Club, Saipan Shipping Company, Matson, IT&E, and Tan Holdings.

The SCC wants to thank all the companies that contributed raffle drawing prizes, advertising and the player drink stations: Coca Cola Co., Glimpses, Foremost Products, KKMP, Century Hotel, Triple J Enterprises, COP, D&Q Saipan, DataDot, Docomo Pacific, Fiesta Resort, Gold's Gym, Hard Rock Café, Hyatt Regency Saipan, IP&E, J. C. Tenorio Enterprises, Kanoa Club, Marfega Trading, McDonalds, NMC, 360 Revolving Restaurant, Safety 1st Systems CNMI, and Saipan Ice.

“Most important to the winners of the $3,300 awarded in cash at the tournament, we want to give our most special thanks to Mr. Juan 'Santiago' Tenorio for his heroic deeds,” Brennan added. (SCC)
