The IT&E Voyagers of SOS Bar & Grill ruled the Tuesday division of the Saipan Billiards Association's 15th Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
The IT&E Voyagers, who won the past two editions of the competition, pulled off a three-peat last week after finishing the summer-fall season with a 136-74 record. The three-time champions are composed of Roman Rodriguez, RJ Masacaranas, Luis Fajardo, Rolly Villanueva, Marc Brian Nelvis, Arjay Nonato, Harris Enriquez, and Mario Espinosa.
They secured the title last week after routing the fourth-ranked Docomo Pacific Home Boyz (120-90), 11-4, in a road match at Joe's Steakhouse and taking a two-game lead over Utopia Sports Bar's Blue Ice Hustlers (134-76).
The Blue Ice Hustlers did all they could to come from behind and skunked Bammy's Restaurant & Bar's Triggers (83-127) on the road, 15-0, but still fell short.
In other results, the IT&E's Incredibles (129-81) of Oceanside Bar & Grill secured third place with a 9-6 road win over 19th Hole's Titans I (79-131), while Crazy 8 (77-133) ended the season on a high note by overcoming Yuichiros Printing (82-128), 10-5, at home in Poseidon Bar & Grill.
IT&E Incredibles' Chester Hamoy led the division in wins with 23 and notched 25 assists, behind by only one against his teammate Marc Butac.
Other notables include Blue Ice Hustlers' Jerry Soriano, who accrued 20 wins with a league-high 27 assists, Docomo's Nolan Cultura (20/16), Blue Ice Hustlers' Erwin Gomez (19/21) and Pangelinan (16/23), IT&E Voyager's Nelvis (19/20) and Fajardo (16/23).
Hamoy also ran the table a league-mark seven times, while honorable mention goes out to Soriano (6) Docomo Homeboyz duo' Nolan Cultura (5) and Juancho Mendoza (5).
Soriano has also managed to sink the 8-ball on the break one time, sharing the honors with Yuichiros' Mario Diola, Titans I's Ron Chisato, IT&E Incredibles' Butac, Chester Cuento and Ghelmark Cabrera, Docomo Home Boyz' Robert Sanciangco, and IT&E Voyagers' Nonato.
Meanwhile, the 19th Hole Bar's Titans II is leading the Thursday field by only three games and hopes to end the season on top next week.
The Titans II bowed to Bammy's Equalizers (131-79) at home, 7-8, but clings to first place with its 134-76 record.
The Waterfront's Eight It! (115-95) is positioned in third place after working out an 8-7 road win over the fourth-ranked Wild Bill's Bar & Grill's Shark Attack (93-117), while 19th Hole-Caboose Eagles (65-145) pulled off an 8-7 upset over Team SCS (92-118) in a road match held at Jonny's Bar & Grill
With two rounds of matches left in the season, Titans II's Rodel Dela Cruz has tallied 22 wins and 22 assists, which are both league-highs, while other notables include Team SCS's Erwin Gomez (21-17), Titans II's Chester Cuento (20/16), Eight It!'s Soriano (19/21), Titans II's Rick Elefante (19/18), Equalizers' Rowel Mariano (18/21), Eight It!'s Frankie Blas (17-18), and Equalizers' Senen Pangelinan (16/21) and Primo Ferrera (16/17).
Gomez has run the table a league-high five times thus far, two more than Equalizers' Soriano, while Pangelinan has also cleaned up shop twice.
In addition, Soriano, the Eagles' Ken Phillips, and Team SCS's Rick Reyes have each pocketed the 8-ball on the break once.
