Ride 'Round the Ridge on Sunday

The 3rd Annual Ride 'Round the Ridge will be held this Sunday with the start and finish line set at the Saipan Radar Station in As Matuis.

Registration begins at 6:30am, while the race starts at 7:30am. Entrance fee is only $10 and each bikers will get a race certificate, t-shirt, and hat. Riders can also win various raffle prizes after the competition.

According to race organizer Brad Ruszala, the course will have bikers leaving Radar to go down the coral road from the top of the As Matuis ridgeline down to the Sirena and Kalaberra Cave, and emerge from the shadows of Suicide Cliff along the double-track course at the Bird Island Lookout. A glance to the right will provide a breathtaking view of Saipan's untouched wilderness and unrivaled beauty.

The course continues along the paved road until bikers reach the Kimikaze Trail. Bikers then will turn left to single-track and daunting climb along the most technical section of the course. Once on top bikers must turn left onto the paved road that leads to Suicide Cliff and pedal down 300 meters of straightaway before turning left onto the coral road leading to Marianas Country Club.

Bikers will next go to the one million-gallon water tank before turning left once again and climbing towards the Radar Station for the finish. Participants in the championship division will have to do two laps of the course, while sports division bikers only have to ride only once.
