Marc Brian Nelvis topped the 16 player field and bagged first prize in 19th Hole's Nov. 21 Marianas Turkey Shoot 8-Ball Tournament for the second year in a row.
He took home a turkey and $120 in prize money. Chester Hamoy got a ham and $72 for second place, with Rowel Mariano earning a ham and $48 for third place. Nizer Masayas won the fourth place trophy, with Mark Butac and Chester Cuento tying for fifth.
Nelvis grabbed the high ground in the eighth edition of the annual event by marching past Ron Chisato, Jerry Soriano, Butac, and Mariano to top the winner's bracket, meaning his challenger would have to win two games to grab the title.
Soriano, a three-time winner, got by Nolan Cultura before Nelvis sent him to the loser's bracket. Butac had defeated Greg Guerrero and Phil Kalen, who moved to the second round by besting Joseph Achas.
Mariano looked like a sure bet as he made short work of Konrad Reyes, Erwin Gomez and Cuento. Gomez handed Masayas his first loss.
Cuento bested John Mongami and Chester Hamoy before falling to Mariano. Hamoy had beaten Juancho Mendoza.
Mendoza eliminated Mongami and Soriano before falling to Masayas, who streaked past Reyes, Kalen, Mendoza and Cuento.
Cultura beat Chisato, but couldn't get past Hamoy. Guerrero passed Achas, then lost to Gomez.
Hamoy ran off five games to gain the championship round. He eliminated Cultura, Gomez, Butac, Masayas, and Mariano, but fell to Nelvis and had to settle for second.
The 19th Hole is starting the Wednesday 8-ball tournaments this week. The entry fee is $10 dollars. All matches are double elimination, following BCA rules. Please try to sign up by 7pm for an 8pm start time. (PR)
